Christie Convenes Summit to Discuss AC

With a number of Atlantic City casinos going out of business, Governor Chris Christie is convening a summit next month to find a path forward.

Earlier this week the $2.4 billion Revel announced it would shut its doors next month, just two years after a highly publicized opening.

That comes on the heels of announcements that Trump Plaza and the Showboat would also close this year.  The Atlantic Club has already closed its doors this year.

“There is no doubt that Atlantic City faces real challenges as the city undergoes revitalization, which is why this summit of key policymakers, local leaders and stakeholders is needed to be an active part of the conversation as to how we can best address these issues that have a broader impact on the broader region and our state as a whole,” Governor Christie said.

Revel’s closing will put more than 3,000 employees out of work.
