Latest Pre-Primary Poll Has de Blasio in First, Thompson in Second
Posted Monday, September 9th 2013 @ 8am

Quinnipiac University's latest mayoral poll released Monday morning has Bill de Blasio in first place among the Democratic candidates with 39 percent of the votes among likely Democratic voters. Bill Thompson jumped ahead of Christine Quinn for second place with 25 percent of the votes, while Quinn fell to third place with just 18 percent of the votes.

In a Wall Street Journal-NBC-Marist poll released on Sunday, Quinn and Thompson were in a dead heat for second place. However, Quinnipiac's poll shows Thompson moving into sole position for second place and a possible runoff with de Blasio. If any candidate receives 40 percent or more of the votes they can win the primary outright. However, if no one receives the necessary 40 percent, the top two candidates will face off in a runoff three weeks later. It looks like the Democratic primary has come down to a three person race between de Blasio, Quinn, and Thompson heading into primary day on Tuesday.
