Two US Marshals and one NYPD detective are in stable condition today following the deadly shooting of a wanted child molester. The three officers had been working on a task force looking for the suspected child molester Charles Mozdir. The man had recently been featured on CNN’s “The Hunt,” and some people in the neighborhood were paying attention. Authorities found him working at a smoke shop in the West Village and a gun battle erupted when they went to confront him. The suspect was killed at the scene. The 45-year-old detective was saved by his bulletproof vest. Mayor Bill de Blasio said after they recover, the three will be honored for their work.

An ESPN host is eating crow today. Stephen A. Smith has apologized after he said, on-air, that women shouldn’t provoke men into beating them. He was referencing the fact that Baltimore Raven’s running back Ray Rice was seen dragging his unconscious wife out of an elevator in Atlantic City, and the NFL only suspended him for two games, same as a marijuana penalty.

The worst Ebola outbreak ever is happening in West Africa. It’s unlikely that it will come to the US but you should be aware of it because two Americans working in Liberia have contracted it. In fact, Liberia has closed its borders to keep the virus from spreading. Ebola is spread through bodily fluids and is contagious once the symptoms of headache, fever, diarrhea, and vomiting show up. Up to 90% of people who get it die from it. So far, 670 people died.

Donald Sterling can’t be a pain in the ass anymore, at least when it comes to the sale of the LA Clippers. A judge has ruled against Donald, saying his wife Shelly had acted appropriately when she negotiated the sale of the Clippers. Judges have struck down Virginia's same-sex marriage ban. The panel was divided 2-1 but said, quote, "We recognize that same-sex marriage makes some people deeply uncomfortable. However, inertia and apprehension are not legitimate bases for denying same-sex couples…equal protection of the laws."
Same-sex marriage is now legal in 19 U.S states plus the District of Columbia. (Those states are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington state.)

And did you know you can get liposuction for your dog? This isn’t a ridiculous cosmetic procedure for the super rich dog owners. It’s actually awesome for dogs and could save them a lot of pain and suffering, especially in their golden years. This is a non-invasive operation that gets rid of benign fatty masses that grow on overweight and older animals. So instead of your furry friend having to endure major surgery and tons of stitches, he can do this instead and be back up on his paws in 48 hours!

And the next time you get a text from a number you don't know, it’s probably a demon. A Polish priest claims he's being texted by an unearthly, and evil, spirit. Father Marian Rajchel said he started getting nasty text messages after her tried and failed to perform an exorcism on a teenage girl. Now, Father Marian said, quote, "The author of these texts is an evil spirit who has possessed her soul.” He also said that this isn't uncommon, and often the owners of mobile phones are not even aware that they are being texted by demons. (Apparently the texts say things like "She will not come out of this hell. She’s mine. Anyone who prays for her will die," and "Shut up, preacher. You cannot save yourself. Idiot. You pathetic old preacher.")

And there’s apparently a growing trend in Colorado, "weedings." These weed themed weddings are a mix of "Martha Stewart Weddings" and "High Times," incorporating the traditional wedding elements with a sprinkle of pot. Lauren Meisels and Bradley Melshenker had a hookah bar and a gift bag that included a rolled joint along with some other goodies like lip balm infused with mango butter and cannabis. The note in the bag read, “We wanted to show you some of the things we love the best.”
