Man Sized Action
Man Sized Action
Adding melodicism and rhythmic variety to the usual "loud fast rules" of the early-'80s Midwest crop, the Minneapolis-based Man Sized Action included Pat Woods, Brian Paulson, Kelly Linehan, and Tippy. The Wire and Mission of Burma-influenced group was the first signing to Bob Mould's Reflex Records. Mould produced the band's spirited debut record, 1983's Claustrophobia. They followed that record a year later with the more fleshed out Five Story Garage, released on prominent indie Homestead. A couple members formed Va-Voom during the summer of 1996. Man Sized Action reunited occasionally to play live, most notably to commemorate the legendary First Avenue club's 30th Anniversary in late 2000. Most notably, Paulson went on to become an in-demand producer for the likes of Slint, Son Volt, and Beck. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
