Hong Kong Dragon Club
Hong Kong Dragon Club
With a name echoing Cuba's Buena Vista Social Club, The Hong Kong Dragon Club is a loose affiliation of studio musicians in Hong Kong, who play sessions for a living and have informally dubbed themselves by their group name for after-hours jamming. Producer K.K. Wong gave their work a more formal context by bringing them together to record Take Out, on which a mixture of traditional Chinese and modern Western instruments were used to play jazz arrangements of traditional Chinese songs. The album was released in March 2000 on the Xien label. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
