Laura Burgo
Laura Burgo
Laura Burgo, a self-taught singer and songwriter, was born in the small town of Pawtucket, RI, and raised in St. Louis. She grew up in a home filled with music, thanks to her mother, another music lover. The young Burgo began writing songs and singing at an early age. In high school she joined her first rock and roll band, and began performing in clubs, much to her mother and father's dismay. Being raised on a steady diet of blues, rock, and country music, it's little wonder so much flavor from each style finds its way into the original tunes Burgo writes for her superb live shows. She has a strong lineup of musicians supporting her on stage, including guitarists Tony Mandracchia and Hugh Cline, bassist Steve Heidtmann, and drummer Mike Sauer. In 1997, Burgo released her debut album, Turned on Too Long, under the Wallflower Music label. Some of the tracks on the album are "I Want You Back," "Cavin' In," "Don't Let Me be Misunderstood," "Push Me, Pull You," and "Val Verde." In 2000, Burgo went to work on a new full-length album for the spring of 2001. Over the years Burgo has toured through the United States, and even in places like Switzerland and France. When things were slow and music wasn't paying the bills, Laura Burgo has found lots of other work to keep herself going, including cook, barber, security guard, dog walker, and plenty of other odds and ends. ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
