Paraguayan Siconova's history starts in 1994 when singer Rolando Sotelo, guitarist Edgar González, bassist Carlos Rivarola, and drummer José Maria Aranda formed a Latin/rock band called Zona Roja, and began touring the local club circuit. After drummer Darío Vega took José Maria Aranda's place, the band performed in a major rock festival at San Bernardino's José Asunción Flores Amphitheater. Even after Zona Roja was mentioned in Luis Szarán's Paraguayan Music Dictionary, Edgar González decided to leave and the group finally disbanded. Soon, Rolando Sotelo, bassist David Garay, Edgar González, and drummer Carlos Rivarola created a new project called Los Politicos, coming in first place after participating in a rock contest at 1997's Expo Itapúa and recording a demo called Karma Sin Calma. When Carlos Rivarola left the band, drummer David Garay joined in and Facundo Isasi became the new bass player. In 1999 the foursome's name was changed to Siconova.
