Seemingly lost in a time warp where the Flamingos, the Beach Boys, Curtis Mayfield, and Motown are all jamming together with Low, Brooklyn's White Blue Yellow & Clouds are the brainchild of Matt Bauder, a multi-instrumentalist known for his avant jazz saxophone and clarinet work and who also sings, plays guitar, and experiments with electronics. Guitarist Tim Eastman and drummer Aaron Siegel round out the band's core trio, but the group can expand to 11 members, including a brass section, a string section, and guest stars including Saturday Looks Good to Me's Fred Thomas. Along with White Blue Yellow & Clouds, Bauder plays in many other projects, such as Day in Pictures, Paper Gardens, Siegel's Where from Here?, and Neil Michael Hagerty's Howling Hex. Bauder hit on the concept of indie pop meets doo wop in 2001 and began assembling the pieces to make White Blue Yellow & Clouds. The band's debut album, Introducing White Blue Yellow & Clouds, was released by I & Ear Records in late 2007. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
