After Hurricane Sandy hit New York City and the northeast, people starting coming up with creative ways to raise money and awareness for relief efforts. A good friend of mine, Michael Chernow, is doing something incrediblity creative and equally nuts. Michael is going to sleep outside on Novemeber 15th to help homeless kids in NYC and accross the country. To give you an idea of how cold it is in New York City, I looked up the forcast for the 15th. It's gonna be in the 30's.
I copied the email he sent out to friends and family below.

Friends and family,
As you may know by now, I am sleeping outside all night on November 15 to raise awareness and funds for homeless kids. This week, their plight has become more dire than ever.
Hurricane Sandy has hit us all so hard here on the East Coast, and homeless kids have not been spared. More kids than ever were found in some of the hardest hit places - New York City, Philadelphia, Jersey City, Asbury Park and, of course, Atlantic City. Dozens of them remain evacuated from Covenant House since last Sunday, moving from one temporary emergency shelter to another with staff and volunteers who have yet to even assess the damage in their own homes. Others are homeless for the first time, unable to return home and separated from their families. In Philadelphia, their shelter has severe roof damage and in Atlantic City, their two facilities are devastated.
In short, these kids need us more than ever.
I ask that you help support them by clicking here: www.thesleepout.org and supporting my sleep out. Every dollar I raise between October 28 and November 15 will be dedicated to Covenant House's hurricane relief efforts - ensuring that no young person is on the streets alone during this challenging time.
Best,
